Global Divestment Day
Global Divestment Day was fast approaching when 350.org came to us with their brief for a campaign explainer animation, based on their orange square. Our animation team came up with a very fresh look for this one, which was partly informed by the fact that we needed to translate this into multiple languages, so we could barely use any text at all.
Arms to Renewables
Campaign Against Arms Trade wanted an interactive site that clearly presented the case for investing in renewables instead of arms. The result was a responsive site that uses CSS animation to lead the user through the story.
We wanted a site that boiled down some complex issues into a single compelling argument and a positive, inspiring call for action … and we wanted it on a small NGO’s budget. Hands Up rose to the challenge and made us something beautiful. They were hard-working, dedicated, engaged, inspired, totally committed to producing a result we were happy with and a pleasure to work with – Sarah Waldron, Campaign Against Arms Trade
Send My Friend
This site built for ActionAid has beauty that is more than skin deep.
Such a high-profile campaign demanded pixel-perfection and intricate WordPress development and customisation has created a site that deeply embraces the project’s brand, and that makes participation in the project simple.
We’ve recently refreshed the look to match their latest campaign.
The right to water
Article 19 needed an animation that explained to a campaigning audience that sometimes, in the fight for water rights, the key can be found in other rights. It’s a complex issue and we needed to simplify things to show how sometimes rights justice can be found via a different avenue.
Showing the inter-relation of human rights is not an easy task, and Hands Up did a great job with this animation which got a really good traction amongst our target audience. It’s a great animation that everyone loves! It was a pleasure working with you guys! – Ana Zarraga-Zamora, Communications and Digital Officer
Elizabeth’s Legacy of Hope
One of our favourite projects – a new website for a fantastic organisation that works with child amputees. It is relatively simple from a technical perspective, the focus was on a design that really highlighted their work and engaged visitors.
Compassion in Dying
A responsive site to help people understand their end of life choices. Includes bespoke page templates, a filterable resource library and more.
‘We are happy and would recommend Hands Up, probably the best run digital project we’ve seen by an agency’ – Zach Moss, Dignity in Dying
The Boycott Divestment and Sanctions movement came to us with a brief to provide them with a shareable short animation that explained their cause and their methods. We were tasked with emulating the well-known Palestinian street art genre but giving it a fresh twist. Palestinian poet and activist Rafeef Ziadah provided a haunting voiceover.
We’ve had absolutely amazing feedback on the video, and the fundraising appeal that we commissioned the appeal for has massively exceeded our expectations, which I’ve got no doubt is in large part thanks for the video. Thanks again for all of your excellent work! – Michael Deas, BDS
End Demand for Sexual Exploitation
A relatively simple WordPress website, designed to inform and motivate visitors to take action – to call for the Government to pass the Sex Buyer Law.
