Why pay artists?

The Paying Artists Campaign aims to secure payment for artists who exhibit in publicly funded galleries (71% of whom – at the start of their campaign – did not!) They believe paying artists for the work they do will mean that in years to come we’ll all still be able to access quality art which reflects the broadest possible spectrum of human experience. They commissioned Hands Up to create something inspiring and engaging, to reflect the need to pay artists for their work.
